Follow Elliot’s quest to make the Men’s National Team in Sweden

Hi!

This is Elliot’s mom writing. Elliot is very busy as this is the height of basketball season with Link Academy, so he has asked me to keep you updated.

A few days ago, Elliot was asked if he can come to Sweden to try out for the Swedish National Mens Team. He has played on the ‘u’ teams since he has 15 years old. Unfortunately, his second year Covid struck, and a lot of the games were canceled. But since covid slowed down, he has been back and in November 2021 he was invited for his first try out for the Men’s team. At the end was not picked so he is very motivated going over there this time. He really wants to make sure he makes it.

The reason Elliot can play with Team Sweden is because I, Michelle his mom, am from Sweden. I was born and raised there so when he and his brother were born, they automatically got the Swedish citizenship.

In Europe you play FIBA and that is always only by your birth year. So Elliot has mainly played with and against players born 2004 but one year he played with the players born 2003. This year he has a chance to play against grown men ;)

He will fly over to Europe on February 19 and the first game is in Frankfurt, Germany on February 24.

Keep your fingers crossed that he will make the team!!!
